WHAT YOU DO AFTER YOU HIT PUBLISH CAN MAKE OR BREAK THE TRAFFIC TO YOUR POST
If you think your work is done after publishing a blog post, think again. By all means, enjoy that brief sigh of relief, but remember that what you do after is just as important as the writing and other preparation. In most cases, how you leverage your content will make or break the amount of people who actually see it. With that being said, consult this checklist to level-up your page views.
1. Index the Link in Google Search Console
Google Search Console is a tool that helps optimize your content so it can get crawled by Google faster and rise to the top of Google search pages.
2. Pin the Blog Post to Pinterest
Don’t think of Pinterest as a social media platform because it functions more so as a search engine that can drive traffic to your blog post. I love the WordPress plugin Tasty Pins because it also allows me to add extra (hidden) images for blog posts with Pinterest descript
3. Update the Blog Post with a Pinterest Pin Link
According to Lindsay Valdez, Director of Audience Development at SHE Media, this small but crucial step (especially if the majority of your traffic is mobile) allows mobile readers to pin the blog post since the popular Pin It plugin is only available in desktop view.
4. Pin Blog Images to Tailwind for Automation Pinning
I use Tailwind (an official partner of Pinterest) to automatically schedule all of the images from my blog post; specifically, 25-30 blog post images per day. This is the smartest and easiest way to grow your Pinterest audience.
5. Share Across Your Social Media Platforms
For those who utilize their Facebook page, both personal and/or business, sharing on this platform will lend you credibility if you ever want to create a Facebook ad. Additionally, blog posts shared on a Facebook business page will automatically reach two percent of the people who “like” your page.
Pro-tip: LinkedIn is probably the most overlooked social media platform when it comes to blogging but it provides some of the best engagement. Personally, it’s where the majority of my blog comments originate.
6. Update Your Instagram’s Link In Bio
To grow traffic, promote your blog post via the Link in Bio section of your Instagram profile instead of just sharing blog images on your Instagram in-feed.
7. Share the Blog Post in a Relevant Facebook Group
Facebook Groups are generally active and highly interactive through comments and shares. Be sure to join groups that are passionate about relevant topics and allow self-promotion.
8. Comment on Relevant Blogs
Blog comments not only help your SEO ranking and build relationships but also grow traffic. Just stick to leaving thoughtful commentary on relevant content as opposed to choosing random posts.
9. Add the Newly Published Blog Post as an Internal Link to Other Relevant Blog Posts
Interlinking between blog posts with similar topics is another easy tactic for not only growing overall traffic but increasing the amount of time your readers spend on your site.
10. Announce the New Blog Post in Your Newsletter
